Things got weird for Elf and Clive. When the new club opened in that abandoned warehouse Elf dragged Clive out to check it out. She was keen on new musical  venues.  But Clive just stayed aloof and hung by the bar while Elf socialized and danced.

She kept asking him what was wrong until Clive just burst at her to leave him alone.

Elf was insulted and stormed off. She later asked his friend Daniel what that was all about. Daniel knew about Clive’s temperament and figured that it was just best to stay out of the way. He liked Clive, but he was already in the dude’s crosshairs because of Audrey.

Elf didn’t bother trying to get Clive to go out anymore. Even though she was busy keeping her grades up, she also made time to have fun. She found herself a regular at this new bar. Even getting up on stage once in a while…

It was during an impromptu jam session that Elf met Colin McLean.

Colin was a sort of eccentric and geeky guy who liked to play the bass. He had a band back home, but lately he was just solo. On stage and musically, he and Elf connected really well.  It was fun, but he was still pretty shy about actually getting to know her.

He didn’t know she had a boyfriend. She had a lot of friends at the club, but none of them seemed particularly intimate with her.  They shared a lot of the same subjects so he didn’t think it would hurt to ask her over for a quiet study session over at his house.  Elf was just happy to get out of her dorm so she agreed.

He had a nice little rental that he remodelled so it looked like a modern city loft.  It was nice and quiet which Elf really appreciated.  He cooked spaghetti while she studied.

They had a great conversation about school, about philosophy, about life and pretty much everything in between. Elf was naturally curious about Colin and asked him pretty much all there was to know about himself. Still, to Colin, she was a mystery. It didn’t stop him from admiring her and thinking she had a beautiful smile.

There was certainly a connection there.

As she left, she finally told him about Clive. He was heartbroken, but he listened to her and how she was worried about her relationship with him, whether or not it will last through College. But even so, she didn’t need to jump into another relationship right now, when school was getting so stressful. Colin understood, and sadly they both agreed to just be friends.

School was getting pretty stressful for Clive too. He never felt that he was as naturally smart as some people were, and he had a lot in common with his dad when it came to just wanting to fool around. But one thing about the Bairds were that they were bullish people. Clive decided to major in economics and attacked his school work with persistence.

Elf did manage to get Clive to come join her for her brothers’ birthday party. Clive barely knew anyone in her family, but for Elf’s sake, he agreed.  He still did care about her very much.

However, all he did was stay on the couch and eat chips while everyone was outdoors hanging out and playing music as the Marlens tended to do.

It was still a good night. Elf’s little brothers, Peregrin (on the left) and Kestrel (right) grew to be handsome teens.

Time went on and things mellowed out a bit.  On his last visit home,  Clive had been trying to convince his little sister, Jessie, to go to college. For one,  it would make their mom happy. For another, it was just the best thing she could do.   He knew Jessie was a bit of a spoiled girl, so he didn’t want her to just sit home and become a politician’s daughter trophy wife.

Jessie finally made it to college. She got herself some new clothes and a haircut. Unfortunately she couldn’t hold off on the glasses. She didn’t mind them though, they made her look smarter than she actually was, she thought.

Jessie came by to visit Clive at his dorm right away.

She met Audrey and the two seemed to hit it off.

Unfortunately she also met Daniel.  But before Clive could introduce them…

I don’t think it’s a good idea to hit on a girl when her very protective, older jock brother is standing right there.  Sorry dude, its not gonna happen.

Jessie got into a little trouble of her own soon into the school year. One of the first things she wanted to do was join the Tri-Var sorority. But at the moment, they were only accepting one new pledge. Both she and another girl, Jennifer Elmsley, who  also lived at her dorm were competing for the spot.

The Tri-Var sisters came over right away to try out the new pledges.

Too bad Jenny didn’t make that great of an impression on Brittany Upsnott.

It was a tough decision but Jessie was their choice in the end. She moved in soon shortly.  The girls went shopping for new clothes to celebrate.

Jessie fit right in.

Meanwhile, Jessie had not told her brother yet that she had moved out. He came by to visit her and was told by Jenny that she no longer lived here.   Jenny instantly liked Clive and she figured it would annoy Jessie anyway. She flirted with him and Clive took it.

The two went out.

Before long he invited her back to his place…

Jenny spent the night and pretty much made herself at home. However, Audrey had no idea who this Sim was walking around in her underwear and when she found out she was with Clive, she freaked out.

Later on, Audrey confronted Clive and asked how he could be doing this to Elf?   Clive told Audrey to mind her own business and to “grow up and deal with it”.  Pretty much words she threw at him months ago.

Clive and Jenny saw eachother occasionally, but he never told Elf nor did he end his relationship with her. Jenny became an annoying fixture at their dorm.

Finally, Audrey was fed up with it all. One day when Jenny was over, Audrey decided to call Elf and invite her over. She never told Elf herself, out of a sense of respect to Clive, but she still felt that Elf needed to know what was going on. There was no harm, after all, in a friend inviting another one over.

Daniel saw immediately what Audrey planned when Elf came over. He rushed over to distract Elf, hoping that maybe Clive would hear her from the basement where he and Jenny were hanging out.

It didn’t work. Elf caught the two together.

Jenny still hung around like nothing happened. Elf and Audrey immediately followed her around the house and confronted her.

Clive knew he screwed up. But he also knew that he still loved Elf and tried to apologize. She wouldn’t have it. As far as she and Clive were concerned, they were done.
