Generation 2: The Boys

Peregrin and Kestrel Marlen had gone off to college. Their first dorm was at the Suzuki House, the same dorm their sister Elf roomed in, but they quickly found that the dorm wasn't all that accepting of their more creative pursuits, and it was difficult for both of them to maintain the 4.0 grade point average that was mandatory to stay there. At the same time, Craig Baird had used his scholarship money and a loan from his dad to rent a house instead of moving into a dorm. Since he was best friends with Peregrin, it was an easy enough decision to invite him and his brother to stay with him to help offset the costs of living.

Kestrel and Peregrin found themselves nightly at the Warehouse playing in their small band. The Marlen Brothers were well known throughout Sim U.

By sophomore year, everyone knew who they were the minute they walked into the room.

On the other hand, Craig didn't want to be famous, but people quickly learned through word of mouth that he was the Mayor's son. With that reputation alone, he was invited to join the Urele-Oresha-Cham greek house. They were surprised when he walked in dressed too casually with no intention to impress.

Even so, Ashley Pitts tried to schmooze him into joining
Craig: Oh you mean I can wear funky togas to parties, bleach my hair blond and be a pretentious douchebag too?

Craig: Yeah, dude, that isn't impressing me.

Craig did end up joining the frat anyway because he figured it should be something he should do to uphold the Baird reputation. He only joined in name only and didn't move into the exclusive UOC manor.

Though Craig's family was well off, his dad held him to the same standards as he did Jessie and Clive. Craig had to work at his grades and get through college by himself. The first semester was hard, but the boys took odd jobs around campus to make ends meet. Kestrel made quite a bit of money DJing.

Which introduced him to numerous contacts.

Life at home wasn't all rock n' roll though. Kestrel seemed to forget that often, much to Craig's annoyance.

Craig: *A%FKLA*#%#@%#2KRrS!!!*

Kestrel was often in charge of making breakfast. Some days he'd get distracted.

Kestrel: This place got crowded all of a sudden. Wanna go back to my room?
Mascot: VOOOOOO GERBITS! btw that's totally hot.

Craig: WTF KESTREL you left the F&*CKing pancakes on the stove!!!

Craig found himself fixing up after Kestrel way too much. That time, there wasn't a fire alarm or sprinkler so he had to deal with the fire by himself. The Llama was no help.

All of which takes its toll eventually.

Kestrel: Um dude. I guess this is a bad time to mention that you smell really bad. You should probably take a shower or something.

Craig: F%^K you.

The boys managed to stay great friends. They often hung out at the Beaker Plaza for cheap food and entertainment

Peregrin still wasn't sure if college was the right place for him. Like Kestrel, he did enjoy having fun, but unlike Kestrel, he felt out of place and awkward most of the time.


Craig assured him he needed to lighten up and take things easy. "Chicks in college come by easily. Take this one for example..."


Craig had seen her around before. She was always dressed in pink and seemed like a bit of a snob so approaching her was a clear challenge. He was expecting to be rebuffed like all the other bimbos (i.e. Heather Huffington) who've dismissed him as a scummy looking lowlife before they found out he was the mayor's son and the younger brother of a business tycoon.

However this wasn't the case with Jaiden Rodiek. He was surprised as any.

It wouldn't be the last time they saw eachother. Craig found himself seeing her again. She was fun to hang out with.


And she clearly liked him. He never thought he'd be falling for a "blond bimbo". But Jaiden was different.


She was a natural gamer. At first she was a little embarassed to admit it but he loved that about her. They'd spend all nights owning eachother at SSX 3.

Among other things.

The day finally came where Craig made his announcement. Craig: Hey.. uh... Jaiden's moving in with us. I hope that's cool.

Peregrin:...
Kestrel: ...


Jaiden only dressed the way she did because she thought it was an easy way to fit into college. But after meeting Craig, she found that he liked her more if she was her geeky, natural self.


She figured it wasn't like she was ever Tri-Var material, so she dressed down.


Jaiden moved into the household and now she and Craig were inseparable. She was pretty much "one of the boys".


Throughout the semesters, Kestrel kept seeing various girls. He liked to be well known throughout campus. Heather in particular really liked him.


But of course she wasn't the only one.




However Peregrin still found himself at odds with everything until he met Allegra Gorey. Kestrel had met her at the Plaza and invited her over one night. Allegra simply thought Kestrel was kind of immature... not her type at all. She didn't feel like being another notch on his bedpost. His brother, however, wasn't at all like him.


Peregrin dragged them both to a karaoke bar one night. Unsurprisingly, it was empty.


After a few drinks, Peregrin found himself loosening up. Allegra too.


Peregrin and Allegra began to see eachother. It was Allegra that showed Peregrin the value of knowledge. The way she saw things fascinated him, so from then on, he changed his mindset about college and his studies.

Allegra was bright and beautiful. In a lot of ways, Allegra was much like he was. She was an introverted but kind natured person who hid behind superficial defences. The dark clothes, piercings and sometimes aloof demeanor were all in place to hide the romantic she really was.

Though they weren't exclusive, Peregrin easily saw himself falling for her. He couldn't be like his brother and treat it like it was just for fun

However, Allegra didn't tell Peregrin one important thing about herself. Though she found herself to be falling for Peregrin too...

... Her heart already belonged to someone else.
