Oh wow. I'm so flattered that you took the time to read it once! LOL. I say this a lot, but I really am glad you liked this chapter. Thank you for reading the story!
Otto can be a little grumpy at times but he really does like a good happy ending. He enjoys making people smile, that's his nature. There will definitely be more on him later. :)
The King is indeed shallow minded in the story, though under the surface he really couldn't look at the crone without thinking of all those years he spent suffering over his wife's illness. As for the Crone, you can blame her for being so angry as to take away their only child. She could have asked for any other payment really. But you're right, she did try to confront her sister on an adversarial level and if she could have understood her sister a little more, maybe things might not have gotten this bad maybe.
Also the Queen herself, she was being selfish in a way... she knew what the consequences would be for her husband if she had a child, but she decided to ignore it and risk her husband's happiness. So these are the things Otto means when he says that the story really is about people being petty and selfish, and that is what human nature is. Otto doesn't want to believe that.
I'm glad you like Otto. I'm so happy to finally get to his story. Thank you again!
