Unlike Harry Potter, Willow isn't quite aware exactly of what's going on yet and all this might not be entirely of her own accord. But you're right, there are others out there that have stuff to gain by Willow being isolated.
I do love Rowan and Linden together. Linden was supposed to make a brief appearance and then go (just to establish that Willow has a close knit family), but he was so popular I figure he'd stick around a while longer. He was supposed to actually leave this chapter and he had gone to visit Willow and Rowan to say goodbye, but for some reason I don't know yet (it's probably in my subconcious somewhere), I wrote "Maybe a little longer" instead. ;)
