I do not know how this happened, but apparently me or the ghost on this account had banned random LJers which might have prevented them from posting here or joining the communities I maintain. There were actually quite a few on the list, so I've unbanned them all. I am totally not sure how that happened, and I apologize for any inconvenience if any has been caused.

Rest assured, I have not banned anyone from my livejournal or communities, at least not intentionally anyway.

I'm just going to blame the Goat for this. :p

Siiiiighhh.

So while testing out a lot I've been meaning to upload for a while, I've noticed that the sims were awfully friendly, and not in the usual way. I went in to check and noticed that they had the most excellent Debug Super Duper Hug command on their pie wheel. Nice.

I'm going in and attempting to fix and test the lots now, however I don't exactly know how far back this goes. This only happens on lots I've been prepping to upload, and I know why (now). I've been pretty much removing my download folder including all my social hacks like ACR to clean out any stray CC from my lots before I upload them. This creates the bug supposedly. I don't think I've been doing this for every lot I've uploaded, but I do know now that this is a no-no.

Please, please, please do let me know if you've downloaded any of my lots and have noticed this bug happening while you're in them. I can point you out to a fix for your game, but I'd like to know as well so I can replace the upload. Hopefully the fix I'm trying out will work. Thank you and I'm really sorry about this!

ETA: after some testing, the fix apparently works, at least it is so far. Check my reply to [livejournal.com profile] gfitz below for links! I'm going to bed!

Short version: If you’ve noticed the “Debug Super Duper Hug” interaction on your sims in any lot you’ve downloaded from me, please let me know so I can replace the lot. Thank you!

Gabriels apartment

This is the  view facing "west" of my Sim State University hood.  Right at the bottom of the pic are the University Way shops, and you can see the 3 small houses on Almond Road. The second plumbBob from the left is Gabriel's apartment.   I imagine the place to be set in a small rural town, the university being the big business there, so the neighbouring areas is country side full of farms and green space. The railroad we see here goes north to south and is surrounded by rocks and trees.

When I went in to shoot Chapter 37, I did notice a discrepancy which I guess I never noticed before. Take a look at the hood view above, and the next pic (from the chapter, no big spoilers) below the cut

I was playing my Pixel Trade hood last night, which is a clean hood with just P_T sims as townies, and I noticed I wasn't getting any more than 1 or 2 townies visiting my community lots at a time. A quick search suggested it may be my RAM/graphic card, but my system isn't that bad. Now playing a community lot in my Simtopi neighbourhood, I get plenty of sims visiting, and they keep coming. So I've no idea what I can do to get more townies to visit my pixel trade communities. :(

I think I may have at least twenty custom townies in that hood and about 10 playable sims. I also have the notownieregen and similar hacks from MATY going on. Before I go out and ask in other places, I was wondering if anyone in my f-list had any idea what was going on?

I had a few questions from this post which I'll answer here along with a little more ramble.  Please keep in mind that what I do works for me in my game and for my story, and I got to this point by experimenting and following several tips and tricks from others as well as reading what they're doing. I may not know or have specific mods and hacks, and I may even be going about things the wrong way. If that's the case, please do add to this. I am by no means proclaiming myself an expert on sim storytelling posing and scene composition. I am always happy to keep learning and be inspired.

Anyway I'm going to go ahead and assume you're read up with all the usual sim storytelling cheats such as moveObjects on, boolProp snapObjectstogrid false, slowMotion and allmenus on . I'm also going to assume you know the difference between game animations and custom poses.  Also, I have all the expansion packs but I do believe the only ones I would consider essential for my story would be Night Life, University, Open For Business and Apartment Life.

By the way, for those that remember Jasmine failing her last exam, she did manage to pass it this time! :D

Going through the extra fun task of reinstalling the Sims 2 games and all the fun expansion packs. Computer is reformatted, and everything is backed up. The fact that the Sims is pretty much the first major program I reinstalled pretty much says everything about how addicted I am.

I'm currently working on getting all the Stuff packs stuffed in there. The only one I'm missing is IKEA... and figures it's my favourite. I have the code, not the disk. If I can't find the disk I will buy it again. My addiction knows no bounds. >.<

No this hasn't been fun. But hopefully my game and my machine will run a little more smoothly this time. :p

Test run with base game! :D

Okay, so the more CC I add to my TS3 game, the slower it runs. It sucks, because I really like playing it and like anyone, I like having lots of choices for looks and stuff. I've gone back to using Aikea_Guinea's default skins instead of Papercat's which the Joy Legacy founder was using because as much as I like them, the file was 49mb (22mb compressed) compared to Aikea_Guinea's 8mb uncompressed. I didn't like them enough to play with a laggy game. :(

Woe is me. What's a TS3 player to do?! )

LJ fun

So yeah, a while ago I did what I said I'd never do and bought myself an LJ account. I was annoyed with the ad banners and I wanted to eventually be able to customize my template. Oddly enough, I only just discovered LJ statistics (it's under the Journal tab in your options) and the My Guests feature which I guess we opted in/out for a while ago. Just so you guys know, I personally think it's a little weird to sort of be able to spy on who's coming into my journal, though oddly enough I don't mind people knowing if I'm visiting their journals. To put a real life analogy on it, it's like the "mystery portrait" in the old mansion with the holes in the eyes, that the owner of the house stands behind to spy on all the guests who come in... yeah that's what it feels like. In any case, I'm turning it off.

I'm digging on the other LJ stats though. :)

I'm just going to throw this out there here just in case anyone on my F-list feels like being helpful :D.   Someone has downloaded and tried to install my Rowhouse and have been having problems. They say that they're getting a missing EP error even though they have all the EPs and SPs.  The computer I built it on only has The Sims Double Deluxe (The Sims 2 and Nightlife), University, Seasons, OFB, Family Fun and Glamour Life.  I installed the lot fine on my main gaming machine to playtest and take screens.  My games are digital downloads from the EA site.   Now I read somewhere, and I can't find it now, that Double Deluxe causes some conflicts but I don't know what I can do to fix it.

If you've downloaded this house (and if you'd like to help test this out for me, I'd love you if you did!), let me know if it installs at all in your machine.  And if you have any idea if there's anything I can do to make this lot easier to install, please let me know because I just have no idea at this point. Thanks in advance. ^_^

I took a cue from [livejournal.com profile] collidingwithme, hit up [livejournal.com profile] noveltybox and found a layout I like. I tweaked it a bit, made it wider, and adjusted the font colours. For the longest time, I've been debating getting a paid account and flexing my uber template coding muscles (ha, lol!) but it's no secret that I hate LJ and they ain't getting my money. *shakes old lady fists*.

Also was a great excuse to use my cheesy TV-promo-wannabe screenshot. :D
simtopi: (av_jasmine)
A while ago I mentioned I might have to put the desktop (aka the Sims 2 machine) away while I staged this house. Well, I've procrastinated on that and the computer is still happily where I need it and intact. But I've backed up my game just in case. I am currently on my laptop, trying out Gimp (so far two thumbs up from me, for a free program). I figured I might as well load up my game and take some test screenshots to see if I can update the story with this computer without taking too much of a quality hit. Results below.

Why yes there are pics... )
